Newborn Session-what to expect

Yay you are expecting!!! You have all the emotions and a million things you need to cross of your check list. My biggest advice is to take a moment to breath (and hurry up and do it early because later in your pregnancy deep breaths get harder!). Your pregnancy will have days that feel like forever waiting to hold your precious baby and then one day you will blink and they will be in your arms.

It will seem like they will forever fit in the palm of your hand, nap on your chest and clasp your finger with their hand. You will kiss their nose and rub their fuzzy shoulders and try to remember every detail. Scheduling your newborn session before they arrive will ensure all of those details will be documented for you to relive with them when they are old enough to climb up in your lap and flip through your families custom album. But if you forget to plan your session prior to their arrival just get in touch as soon as possible. There is an ideal window for the session and I limit the amount of sessions I take each month to ensure a custom experience for each family.

You are all booked so now what?

You take a part in planning the session. I want to create images that will hang on your walls and be enjoyed for years to come. Every client receives a questionnaire prior to the session. I want to know all the thing about you, your family, nursery color and plans for the images. I will use the answers your provide to customize 4 to 5 stylized setups for your baby.

Getting out of the house on time with a newborn sounds like an impossible idea. I will send you a prep guide with all the ways to help you and your baby get ready before you come to the studio. Mama, the last thing you have time for is yourself in those early days so I will take care of you. A professional makeup artist will be at the studio when you arrive to get you ready for your photos.

Relax! For the first half your session you can relax, eat some breakfast and enjoy a coffee while photograph your baby. I am trained in newborn safety and will ensure you baby is safe and comfortable the entire session. I will work though some stylized setups as well as more simple simple setups that are fully focused on your baby. The last portion of the session is all about the family images. My studio offers the ability to take classic portraits on a solid drop or more lifestyle images by the window. You don’t have to choose-your session will include both.

One to two weeks after your session you will come back into the studio for a live reveal of your gallery and an ordering appointment. You can walk away with printed images in hand the day of your appointment. The last thing you need is another to do on your list. I will create heirloom products that you will cherish and enjoy instead of digital files that forever live on your computer. That newborn phase can feel so long but is oh so sweet and will be gone before you know it.

No extra stress is every needed, save the moment and I’ll capture the details.
